For Love, Glory, And Honor Essay FOR LOVE, GLORY, AND HONORHER LITTLE MAJESTY: THE LIFE OF QUEEN VICTORIAAuthor: Carolly EricksonNovember 1, 1999FOR LOVE, GLORY, AND HONORHer Little Majesty: The Life of Queen Victoria, composed via Carolly Erickson, was a real to life story of the life of Victoria, a British sovereign whose unyielding and pertinacious conduct assisted with keeping up Englands impervious rule over the remainder of the world. Erickson expected to demonstrate that ladies, for example, Victoria, were completely skillful of administering themselves as well as other people, despite the fact that ladies were viewed as mediocre and needing male oversight. The writer effectively cultivated her motivation of portraying Victoria in a positive light by imforming the peruser of how she figured out how to triumph over affliction despiite her unfeeling childhood. Princess Alexandria Victoria was conceived on May 24, 1819, to the Duke and Duchess of Kent in Kensington Palace. Sadly, the Duke died soon after her introduction to the world. Subsequently, Victorias childhood was left in the hands of her ravenous and touchy mother in the hands of her dads domineering equerry, Captain Conroy. In view of just their own personal circumstances, Victorias overseers endeavored to deny the youthful princess of her adolescence by upholding severe principles and by restricting her to the castle. Her own family members tired to prevent her imperative status from claiming being third in line for the seat, and they openly viewed her as an interloper. Be that as it may, there were, actually, numerous good parts of Victoria;s youth and pre-adulthood. Victoria was shown the finesse of move and the magnificence of workmanship in her youth, and she figured out how to value her future job as sovereign through her broad investigation of British history. She was a sig nificant decided and firm youthful princess, and this disposition stayed with her all through her rule as Queen of England. Not long after the demise of King William IV, Princess Victoria was delegated as sovereign at the lawful age of eighteen. Sovereign Victoria tried to be a fit and upstanding leader of England, and iwth the help of the English government, Victoria had the option to comprise request in every aspect of her domain. Her union with her cousin, Prince Albert of Sax-Coburg-Gotha, was exceptionally beneficial and good for both Victoria and her domain. Albert privided the enthusiastic steadiness that Victoria required in that timeframe, and he additionally provided England with his superb mastery in political and social issues. Their marriage delivered nine youngsters who proceeded with this English administration after the passing of their folks. Alberts appalling passing detrimentally affected Victorias life since her spouses filled in as a passionate brace for her, and she out of nowhere felt overpowered by her duties as sovereign. In any case, with the direction of her remarkable executive s, Victoria had the option to be triumphant in wars in Crimea a Prussia. Uner Victorias rule, England had the option to state its control over India, a nation where Victoria endeavored to pick up prevalence among its residents. Sovereign Victoria likewise sorted out lodging courses of action for Englands less lucky residents and clinical consideration for the laborers in Englands processing plants. There were unending questions among the Whigs and Tories in Parliament, which Victoria effectively stopped, and there were troubles concerning the British control of Sudan, Africa. In any case, Victoria had the option to beat these hardships and to pick up the adoration of her realm. On January 22, 1901, Queen Victoria passed on at the age of eighty one, deserting a domain that regretted over the demise of such an astounding ruler. Carolly Ericksons account of Queen Victoria gave an evenhanded knowledge into Victoiras life as sovereign. Erickson provided expand portrayals of Englands royal residences and imperial festivals, permitting the peruser to effortlessly imagine these spots and merriments. For instance, the writer portrayed the House of Windsor with a lot of detail when composing, Beyond the sublime goods, gleaming woven artworks, and fine works of art that enhanced the old manors living quarters, there were wealth brought from India, goods taken from Tippoo Sahib, including a brilliant tigers head and shimmering etched peacock studded with rubies and emeralds. .u49a97f0bde5a1d4fca52f47c8496de69 , .u49a97f0bde5a1d4fca52f47c8496de69 .postImageUrl , .u49a97f0bde5a1d4fca52f47c8496de69 .focused content territory { min-stature: 80px; position: relative; } .u49a97f0bde5a1d4fca52f47c8496de69 , .u49a97f0bde5a1d4fca52f47c8496de69:hover , .u49a97f0bde5a1d4fca52f47c8496de69:visited , .u49a97f0bde5a1d4fca52f47c8496de69:active { border:0!important; } .u49a97f0bde5a1d4fca52f47c8496de69 .clearfix:after { content: ; show: table; clear: both; } .u49a97f0bde5a1d4fca52f47c8496de69 { show: square; progress: foundation shading 250ms; webkit-change: foundation shading 250ms; width: 100%; darkness: 1; change: mistiness 250ms; webkit-change: obscurity 250ms; foundation shading: #95A5A6; } .u49a97f0bde5a1d4fca52f47c8496de69:active , .u49a97f0bde5a1d4fca52f47c8496de69:hover { murkiness: 1; change: haziness 250ms; webkit-change: darkness 250ms; foundation shading: #2C3E50; } .u49a97f0bde5a1d4fca52f47c8496de69 .focused content zone { width: 100%; position: relative; } .u49a97f0bde5a1d4fca52f47c8496de69 .ctaText { fringe base: 0 strong #fff; shading: #2980B9; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: intense; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; content embellishment: underline; } .u49a97f0bde5a1d4fca52f47c8496de69 .postTitle { shading: #FFFFFF; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: 600; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; width: 100%; } .u49a97f0bde5a1d4fca52f47c8496de69 .ctaButton { foundation shading: #7F8C8D!important; shading: #2980B9; outskirt: none; outskirt span: 3px; box-shadow: none; text dimension: 14px; text style weight: striking; line-tallness: 26px; moz-outskirt sweep: 3px; content adjust: focus; content enhancement: none; content shadow: none; width: 80px; min-stature: 80px; foundation: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/modules/intelly-related-posts/resources/pictures/straightforward arrow.png)no-rehash; position: total; right: 0; top: 0; } .u49a97f0bde5a1d4fca52f47c8496de69:hover .ctaButton { foundation shading: #34495E!important; } .u49a97 f0bde5a1d4fca52f47c8496de69 .focused content { show: table; stature: 80px; cushioning left: 18px; top: 0; } .u49a97f0bde5a1d4fca52f47c8496de69-content { show: table-cell; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; cushioning right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-adjust: center; width: 100%; } .u49a97f0bde5a1d4fca52f47c8496de69:after { content: ; show: square; clear: both; } READ: Pestel Analysis On Dabur Company EssayFurthermore, the writer likewise included extracts from Victorias private diary, which she kept up in the prior years and during her standard. These selections permitted the peruser to see Victoria with sentiments of adoration and enderment. The peruser had the option to partake in Victorias triumphs and disasters and to comprehend the feelings that she felt during specific scenes throughout her life. For example, Victoria was horrendously lamented after the demise of her dearest spouse, and she felt as though she was inadequate with regards to part of her soal in light of his less t han ideal passing. The perusers increased an understanding into her agony when perusing a passage from her diary in which she stated, I stood up, kissing his dear superb temple and called out in a harsh anguishing cry: ?Oh! my dear sweetheart! and afterward dropped on my knees in quiet, occupied sadness, unfit to absolute a word or shed a tear. This memoir was a joy and delight to peruse in light of these individual portions taken from Victorias private journal. Victoria regularly granted data in the sections of her diary, describing her sentiments toward a portion of her political consultants. She once composed of a question with one of her counsels and of her animosity toward him. She stated, I pitched into him with a passion and irateness which was at any rate enlivened by the British Lion-and he remaine contracting yet at the same time cowardly hearted. These assortment of extracts added a general agreeable quality to this perfect work of art of a life story, which was hard to s et aside until the end since it was distinctive picture of the previous sovereign. Erickson breathtakingly portrayed Queen Victorias positive and negative characteristics in this elegantly composed history. The creator demonstrated that in spite of her short and pauchy build, Victoria had the option to turn into an oppressive figure in England, leaving an everlasting imprint on English society. Sovereign Victoria was a decided, noble, and frequently sick natured lady, yet these attributes, which appeared to be negative, were very praiseworthy. It was because of this willfulness that Victoria had the option to affirm here control over her domain. Sovereign Victoria was the pride of England, and she was really worried for the prosperity of her country since all that she did was for hell's sake, greatness, and respect of her domain. Her Little Majesty: The Life of Queen Victoria was distributed in 1997 by Simon and Schusterin, the United States of America. The writer, Carollly Erickson, is a significant cultivated and famous biographer who has composed eleven exceptionally acclaimed biogaphies while dwelling in here home in Hawaii. The Role of Management in the Provision of Australian Hospitality in D Case Study

The Role of Management in the Provision of Australian Hospitality in D Case Study The Role of Management in the Provision of Australian Hospitality in Diverse Cultural Environment â€" Case Study Example > The paper “ The Role of Management in the Provision of Australian Hospitality in Diverse Cultural Environment”   is a cogent variant of a case study on tourism. The hospitality industry is an integral part of any tourist product that helps in the development of a destination’ s personality. Therefore, the development of hospitality is more than focusing on hospitable behavior. Important factors such as the quality of food as well as drink and accommodation must be considered, and thus the product component of the hospitality industry becomes an integral basis of the hospitality notion. The idea that hospitality involves exchange is indisputable. This indicates that the nature of hospitality exchange concerns the specific product provided in terms of accommodation, food, and drink in addition to a given exchange being contemporary in nature as illustrated below (Baum 2006). In Melbourne, for instance, small bars and restaurants located within the city laneways are considered important as well as an iconic part of the Melbourne hospitality scene. The study provides an analysis of how and why such laneway hospitality operations are viewed as part of the Melbourne experience based on the theory of experience economy as presented by Pine and Gilmore. Melbourne hosts more than a million of international visitors yearly. The visitors who comprise of shoppers, works and travelers take a break around the various cafes and restaurant seats. Developing some height limits as well as heritage controls has maintained the Melbourne city on the human scale, though portraying its diversity and originality. Based on the city’ s muddle of connecting laneways as well as arcades offer other world experiences that reflect intimate spaces and ambiguity, creating a home to various Melbourne’ s bars, dining and shopping secrets (Broadsheet 2011). It has been reported that Melbourne creates a rational canvas purposely for artistic expression, and thus its laneways considered homes to at times controversial street art. It is true in Pine and Gilmore (1999) view that experience should be the core product of all events, particularly in the tourism industry because it plays an important role in determining the survival and achievable of the competitive advantage in the industry. This is achieved through the four main dimensions of the event experiences namely, entertainment, escapism, education, and esthetics. This implies that people visit events so as to satisfy as well as fulfill different goals and needs. Therefore, events have been considered as one of the dynamic and expanding ways of tourism attractions. Arguably, the significance of event motivation in hospitality industry suggests three interrelated reasons as a key to developing quality products and services, a crucial component of understanding the decision-making process of visitors and the fact that it is more closely associated with satisfaction. It is apparent that the quality of event experience in the tourism industry determines the satisfaction of visitors, and thus plays an important role both in the survival and achievable of competitive advantage in the tourism industry. The management of hospitable organizations such as hotels, bars, and restaurants should understand that a desirable experience positively affects the emotions to last-long within the minds of their customers as well as influence the consequent behaviors (Grö schl Doherty 1999). According to Pine and Gilmore (1999) on the theory of experience economy, most consumers seek experiences that are so unique beyond the mere consumption of products and services. This is simply because the consistent, as well as a high level of both products and services, do not provide a long-lasting basis for differentiating the choices for consumers. Based on this view, it can be noted that the writers Pine and Gilmore intended to emphasize that businesses, particularly those in the provision of tourism products and services to shift from their delivery-focused managerial service economy which focuses on high-quality offerings to a more staged experience economy that can create a memorable consumption experience within the minds of visitors. In Melbourne, there is a massive choice of places to visit for a drink. This is more common with its laneway. However, anybody can imbibe within the various styles as venues, for instance, nightclubs, cocktail, pubs, bar dining areas, the sp orts bars as well as jazz bars or the live music bars. Melbourne has taken the lead of the Australian Bar industries where bars initially went underground, later into the laneways and currently bars have largely developed. For example, the current sudden increase of the rooftop bar has witnessed most of the city’ s rooftops changed into self-indulgent drinking holes (Victoria 2012).

Analysis Of The Book Deaf By Mark Drolsbaugh - 1616 Words

In 1997, Mark Drolsbaugh printed a book titled Deaf Again. In this book, Mark narrates his life story from a hearing child to deaf adult and all of his hardships. Mark was a hearing child born to deaf parents. As he matured, his hearing began to worsen and soon he was labeled as deaf, communicating became harder. He would make mistakes in class and be ridiculed for it. He did not understand the reason for the ridicule and eventually stopped putting effort in his studies. A pediatrician told his parents to look into speech therapy and hearing aids for him. His parents felt he would be happier if he connected more with his hearing side than subject him to a life ruled by his disability. However, his parents were fluent in ASL and regularly communicated with each other by signing. His guardians felt being taught to sign would hinder his development. As he aged, he experienced a larger disconnect from the hearing world, resulting in an isolating feeling. Eventually Mark learned ASL and g radually let the Deaf culture become a bigger part of his life. As his involvement in the Deaf culture grew he found a comradery that he had never had before. Soon, he began to see the value that came from communication and relationships with others above all else. Mark mentions how his parents decided against teach him to sign when he was a child. This was because they felt it would be hindrance to his speech development and limit his educational progress. This is a common occurrence in the

Main Causes of Food Insecurity free essay sample

What are the main causes of food insecurity in the world today? Outline and evaluate 2 or 3 possible solutions to food insecurity problems. Introduction World Food Summit defines food security as: â€Å"Food security exists when all people, at all times, have physical and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food that meets their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life†. (World Food Summit, 1996) On the contrary, the food insecurity means the situation people who are lack of food or nutrition. A person who lives in such situation for a very long time cannot access enough nutritious food to be healthy. Additionally, food insecurity can be chronic, seasonal or transitory (FAO, 2000). At present, the problem has been more and more serious and it has caused a series of problems. In some areas where food is abundant, the nation feel adequately secured about food. However, there are still over 925 million people (20%) suffering the chronic hunger in the developing counties in 2010 (FAO, 2010). In the graph below, it show the trend of the number of undernourished people in the world, and in 2009 it reached a peak of over 1000 million. Even though the population of hunger decreased in 2010, it is still a difficulty issue for around the world. pic] In general, there are many causes of food insecurity, for instance, the unavailability of food, insufficient purchasing power, inappropriate distribution, or inadequate use of food at the household level (FAO, 2000). However, all these reasons contribute to one same result, undernourishment. As far as I see, these reasons can be related in two main causes: the short supply of grain and people cannot access enough food to keep a healthy life individually. On one hand, the production of grain is easily affected by natural factors. Firstly, the global food output is facing a huge challenge because of climate change. It is thought that global warming is a important reason for decreasing production of food. Based on NCDC’s data, the average temperature has been rising since 1970, and 1995-2005 is the hottest decade by record which greatly affected the production of grain (NOAA, 2006). In this case, it will be probable to have a reduction in food output with an extreme high temperature. For example, in 2002 Italy experienced a record drop, and in France the wheat harvest nearly declined by 21% (Easterling et al, 2007). Secondly, extreme weather happened more frequently in recent years. This May, drought in China has affected 6. million hectares of farmland, and in the US, floods along the Mississippi River and its tributaries have affected approximately 3. 6 million acres of cropland (Bloomberg, 2011). Although the governments can use the international trade to alleviate the pressure of inadequacy of food supply, the reductions in Europe still have a very negative influence on local inhabita nts and add more unstable factors to current shortage of food supply. Then, for a great number of people in some developing areas, such as Asia and Africa, the shortage of water is the main problem for crop production. In some areas, people cannot afford the expensive fee of irrigation machines. However, the overpumping and waste of the water has caused falling of water in China and India which will lead to the shortage of water in the end. Additionally, the backward agricultural methods and tools, unhealthy people and unhealthy soils in these areas are also important causes. On the other hand, if the demand of food is much huger than the supply in one place, their only way is to access them form others. For many places which is suffering from undernourishment, purchasing food from other countries is quiet difficult. Most of these countries are developing countries, whose food security is limited by their wealthy level. In addition, the huge world population is another reason. The chart below indicates the constantly rising trend of population, the number recently has been over 6 million, and it will be more than 9 million based on their prediction. The huge population will certainly bring enormous pressure to the food security. In other words, the huge world population not only decreases the food per capita, but also brings the world more babies which eeds a long time to become available labor. [pic] The last but not the least, high food prices make the situation even worse. According to FAO s data, the population of undernourishment increased by 75 million, which is higher than it in 2003 to 2005. The scientists analyzed it is caused by the rising food price (FAO, 2008). Additionally, in some countries in African, South American and Asia where average income is very low, to achieve the food se curity is almost impossible. For instance, Afghanistan is one of the most food-insecure countries. In Afghanistan, with 80% of the population living in rural place, the agricultural industry is most significant to this country. However, the households in Afghanistan still need to spend over 60 percent of their budgets on food. In 2008, it can be easily found in the chart, the wheat flour price experienced a sharp increase from 15 per kg to 45 per kg, which greatly increased the burden of the inhabitants (D’Souza, 2011). When the flour price rises, the local people will certainly spend more percentage of their incomes on wheat flour rather than some high-quality vegetables and meat. Unreasonable diet structure can directly contribute to lacking nutrition and influence their healthy. As a result, a vicious circle is created and makes the area trap in chronic hunger. [pic] Food insecurity is the result of many factors; the causes of it are complex and interact. In order to solve the issue, I strongly suggest the solutions should be presented based on the current situation. It is necessary to make greater efforts to develop new kinds of agricultural products or technology to avoid the influence of climate change. For example, we can improve the method of irrigation to make it less wasteful and more widespread. At present, most farmers irrigate their crops by flooding their fields or channeling the water down parallel furrows, relying on gravity to move the water across the land. (Postel, 2001) Thus, this method of irrigation absolutely will waste much water and sometimes even cause the soil erosion. In addition, the scientists can use biotechnology to invent a new kind of grain which is more heat-resistant and drought-tolerant. In this way, it will be possible to reduce the influence of extreme weather and product enough food. Then, the problem is seemed to be more serious in some developing countries because of both low agricultural productivity and the high poverty level. Some of them is affected by wars and political instability, while at the same time, some countries are suffering from the long-term lack of labour and disease. In this case, what I suggest is that the developed areas should pay more attentions to these countries and offer more assistence. For example, the grain are particularly important for the hunger population in some African countries which has no ability to product their own food. Without enough labour and suitable weather for growing crops, grain production is quite low in these countries. Additionally, undernourished people there will easier to infected the HIV/AIDS, and develop all the symptoms of the disease more quickly than the healthy people. (Kadiyala S and Gilleapie S, 2003) Therefore, maybe the only way for this area is to seek helps from other countries. Moreover, this kind of assistance also can be used to relieve the problem of domestic poverty. The government can provide some extra service for the poor, such as food assistance, and social security system to make sure the poor can keep their livings. Eventually, high food prices is mainly caused by the shortage of food supply. In order to solve this issue, governments should consider more about the global situation. Stocking up the crops can guarantee the food supply for the local markets. However, it is not so wise to do so in the current time. Limiting the world food exports can eventually lead to rise of food prices. In other words, the total amount of food is divided into many parts by all the counties, which caused the disparity of food distribution at present. If there is a really global market for all of the grain, maybe the situation will become much better. Conclusion To improve the food insecurity is a long-term job for the people all over the world. In general, the people who lives in South Asia, West Asia and Sub-Saharan African may have the most insecurity about food. Refer to all of these solutions, the actions made by the governments may be the most efficient ways. Offering assistance to the poor can relieve the pressure of food shortage in the short run, and help people overcome the crisis. However, the food insecurity fundamentally result from the shortage of food supply, what we should do is to produce enough food and offer the public an appropriate food price.

Solar Energy Research Paper Example Essay Example

Solar Energy Research Paper Example Paper Solar Energy Essay Introduction Solar Energy Solar energy is a source of energy that utilizes the sun’s energy and light in providing heat, light, electricity, hot water and even cooling systems for homes, businesses and for industrial use (Maczulak, 14). The world depends on energy to run most of its activities including transport, communication and health. There are many sources of energy such as hydroelectric, geothermal, wind power and bio fuel. However, some of these energy sources have a negative effect on the environment and pose a threat to human life now and in the future. This destruction is in the form of environmental pollution. In the recent past, the environment has suffered from the activities of human beings with regard to their use of dangerous energy sources. Environmental pollution is the discharge of energy and other harmful material into water, land, or air, which leads to short-term or long-term destruction on the earth’s ecological balance. For instance, sources such as coal cau se pollution through emissions of harmful gases. If these emissions reach a certain level, they become harmful to the environment and can cause health complications to human beings. The worst effect so far of energy pollution has been global warming. It is because of these negative effects of energy that a new form of alternative energy sources emerged. These new sources are environmentally friendly and are often referred to as green energy. Green energy is derived from natural sources such as sunlight, rainwater, wind, plants and geothermal heat, a factor that makes them renewable. Due to their natural abundance, they can be replenished easily and are always available. These sources have a lesser effect on the environment given that they are natural and therefore cause minimal pollution. It is also cheaper and applicable in all the areas where other energy sources like coal and oil are used including industries and in motor vehicles. This has been made possible with technological a dvancements with the aim of reducing pollution, providing cost friendly energy and making it available for everyone. Solar energy is a type of green energy and is the most prevalent. Technology has made it accessible to most people and additionally made it inexpensive. There are various ways to harness solar power. One such way is solar thermal conversion also known as solar water heating (Benduhn, 39). Conversion here means changing something from one form to another. Through this method, sunlight is tapped using mirrors or reflectors and used to create heat by heating up a fluid in this case water. This method uses solar panels containing water to trap sunlight, which then heats the water in the panels. Glass panels are usually painted black to facilitate maximum absorption of the sun’s energy and thereafter positioned in a manner that also ensures that heat is captured extensively. The sun’s energy is enough to heat water to extremely high temperatures, which enable s it to produce more heat. This makes it useful for application in large industries, which then have to invest in more panels. One crucial advantage is that if produced in large scale it can facilitate storage of the sun’s energy to be used later even without sunshine. In addition, the steam from the heated water can be used to provide electricity other than being used in hot water supplies. This method is also simple with the results being extensive. When applied at home, it helps in significantly reducing the cost of electricity and providing warmth. Photoelectric cells are also used in converting solar power. It directly converts the sun’s energy into electricity, a method referred to as photovoltaic conversion. The term photo is derived from a Greek word that means light. Voltaic is a word named after an Italian physicist Alessandro Volta and means to produce electric current. When combined, they refer to the creation of electrical energy using light in this case t hat from the sun. Photovoltaic or photoelectric cells produce electricity whenever they are exposed to light (Green, 114). Their design consists of panels, layered with different materials. The reason behind using two different materials is that one becomes positively charged and the other is negatively charged when exposed to light elements, thus creating electricity. Several factors influence the amount of electricity generated by the above cells. They include the size of the cell, the amount of surface exposed to the sun at any given time and the strength of the sun’s rays, which are dependent on weather and time of day, and the length of time of exposure of the device to the sun. Additionally, obstructions if any to the source of light such as clouds and dirt are also considered. Whenever the sun is brighter, more energy is produced and devices with larger panels produce more electricity due to an increased surface area. The same applies when cells are exposed for a longe r period to the sun. Areas around the equator are more effective in terms of production, compared to those in the arctic regions. However, obstructions to the sun’s rays result in lower production of electrical energy whereas more is produced in tines when the sun’s intensity is at its highest. The amount of energy produced by solar cells depends on their purpose. This is because the levels required to run different items or places vary. For instance, the electricity needed to run smaller equipment may be less compared to that required for large-scale use such as in industries or in running big apparatus such as motor vehicles. However a number of cells can be connected to produce more energy when need arises. Many companies are moving towards the new trend that has become popular due to its efficiency. There are numerous advantages of solar energy, some of which are already documented above. The main one is its positive effect on the environment. In an immensely pollu ted and degraded environment, solar energy emerges as a cure. It serves to ease the burden of the hazardous effects on the environment by harmful energy. This is through the people redirecting their choice of energy source to this more appropriate and natural source. Of course, this requires some awareness on the negative effects of fossil fuels to create energy without which change would not be achieved. People all over the world need to be educated on the importance of safe energy and the urgent need to save the environment through use of alternative energy sources. The fact that solar energy is natural is beneficial enough. The abundance associated with it is a major advantage. This means it is readily available and can be saved for future use in case of weather changes. Its renew ability places it a notch higher than other energy sources which can be depleted. It is cheaper to maintain once the initial costs have been incurred. Most solar power systems have a long life span of b etween thirty and forty years, and can be designed to suit special needs. For instance, a person can restrict solar energy to certain parts of their house and eliminate others. Solar energy has a number of disadvantages though minimal. One such challenge is the initial cost of setting up equipment required for it to work. These costs depend on the extent to which the lighting or energy is used. This implies that large-scale initiatives cost more than the small-scale ones. Solar panels are expensive but many only perceive this as a small price to pay compared to the benefits they will reap out of using solar energy. Besides, the money is compensated by the long life span of solar power systems. Use of water in solar thermal conversion often poses a challenge especially in areas where it is a scarce commodity. Arid areas in particular suffer from strains to their local water resources whenever this method of converting solar energy is used. This implies that their desire to utilize th is form of energy may be limited unless they use the alternative method of photovoltaic conversion. Large-scale production of solar energy requires an expansive land, which may not be readily available for use. This is also a limitation to its development. Firms that produce this energy on commercial level need large tracts of land, which raises concerns about the potential, risk such projects pose to natural habitats. This is because people may need to be evacuated to provide land for such projects. In order to solve this problem, energy projects are being started on contaminated or wastelands and mine sites where there are no human populations. Photovoltaic panels are said to contain harmful materials which could be released to the environment through damage of a solar panel, or if it is not disposed properly. Using this method of conversion is also risky because concentration of solar energy systems may require the use of potentially harmful materials such as oils. The use of the se materials creates possibility of spills that eventually cause harm to the environment through pollution of various aspects of the natural environment. Eventually, human beings will be affected in different ways resulting from environmental pollution. Solar energy is intermittent. This means that it is only available when the sun is shining. The most affected times are the night, cold seasons and areas where the sun rarely shines but whose population is seeking an alternative energy source (Ogunseitan, 17). In spite of technological efforts being made to improve this phenomenon by developing storage programs, it is still a challenge to those wishing to adopt it as a permanent energy source. It times of bad weather, the production of solar energy goes down and if it persists longer than expected the stored energy may not be enough to cater for the user’s needs. A challenge also emerges in the form of obstructions, which affect the amount of energy being produced at any given point in time. These are in the form of clouds, dirt and other industrial pollutants. An area’s landscape and its buildings can also be an impediment to the amount of rays reaching the solar panels. This is the case where there are tall buildings or the surrounding area is full of tall trees or is hilly. Much attention has to be paid to the location of solar panels to ensure that their performance is not affected. Solar panels are bulky, especially the ones used for large-scale production. They therefore require more expertise in setting them up and a large area to accommodate them. However new designs are being developed to ensure that such effects are overcome. This is regarding the future of solar energy. Technology experts are gearing up for an improvement of solar energy with specificity in design of solar panels, initial costs and better energy storage methods. Needless to mention, it has proved to be the most popular substitute energy source in the world. More people are embracing solar energy in replacement of their previous energy sources, which have become expensive with the tough economic times (Castellano, 55). It is accessible even to the remotest of areas provided the sun shines and the people have been educated on its advantages. Those who previously lacked electricity now have it courtesy of this cheap alternative. The future has more in store for users of solar energy. References Benduhn, Tea. Solar Power.
